Cathy and Luke get their first taste of the Cape at a house opening ceremony in Aurukun to move on the spirits of the dead, get their feet wet hunting mud shells in a mosquito infested swamp, launch a community-built catamaran to explore the weekends and try not to get burnt to a cinder as they learn how to set fire to country.

Cathy and Luke journey to the outermost edge of Australia as they explore the islandss of the Torres Strait. Their journey climaxes on Saibai island, where the dividing line between what is Asutralia and what is not is blurred by the relatively free movement of family, traders and cultural influences across the border with Papua New Guinea
